My fonts connote peacefulness, fluidity, elegance, self expression and professionalism this makes them fit my genre of small arts business because by having different thickness, angles and curves it shows effort was put in to the masthead as it has creative motifs linking to my art theme, its professional typography makes the business theme of my magazine appear to be taken seriously. The leaf graphics connote the peacefulness and calm that readers can receive by reading this magazine. I chose not to experiment with different colours for my masthead because I wanted it to be symplistic and clasic so that it appeals to an older audience.
By creating this mood board pf real magazine mastheads I have found that I like busy magazines with a consistent colour scheme an example of this is the 'Teen Vogue' magazine featuring Willow Smith they use the pink colour scheme in the masthead. However I dislike its use of multiple fonts I think magazines such as 'Dazed' that make use of one font in varying sizes are easier to read. Allot of the magazines I have chosen use contrasting colours in there masthead I like that by doing this it makes it easier to read and makes the brand name stand out. I prefer when magazines such as 'Exposed' place the masthead in front of the model instead of magazines such as 'Fashion' place the masthead behind the model, I think having the masthead on clear display is important for costumers to recognize the masthead so that they see the brand and buy the product again. I like the fonts used in 'Bazaar' and 'Vanity Fair' as they have a professional and delicate esthetic.
